First thing’s first. Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana opens August 30, 2026, so everything in this article is based on what Hyatt has officially announced so far. Anything can change prior to opening, and after opening. I’ll do my best to keep this guide updated moving forward.
As usual, if you book within the first 90 days of opening, plan for a soft-opening experience. New restaurants take time to settle into their menus, staff training is still being calibrated, and minor issues are normal. I usually tell clients to wait until January 2027 for a smoother stay, but if you want a memorable opening-month experience and are flexible about hiccups, August – October will be some of the lowest rates of the year.
I plan to update this guide with firsthand observations after our first post-opening site visit, currently targeted for November 2026.
Also keep in-mind, this used to be Jewel Palm Beach Punta Cana, and from what I’m seeing most of the core layout has stayed the same. The rooms, restaurants, lobby, bars, all got pretty big updates. Hopefully those hallways did also – for those who remember the textured paint that looked more like water damage than anything else. But this also means that Hyatt isn’t starting entirely from zero here, which makes me hopeful that they’ll get into a groove sooner rather than later.

Who Will Actually Like Staying at Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana
The Vivid brand sits in a specific spot in the Hyatt Inclusive Collection lineup. It is not as polished as Secrets, not as energetic as Breathless, and not as sprawling as Zilara. Vivid is positioned as more design-forward, casual, and wellness-friendly, with reservation-free dining and a relaxed dress code across most venues. At least that’s what Hyatt puts out.
So, theorteically this resort should work well for:
- Couples in their 30s and 40s who want adults-only without the Breathless club-vibe intensity or the Secrets price tag.
- Honeymooners looking for a wellness-leaning property with romance-package pricing that’s lower than Secrets.
- Repeat Punta Cana visitors who have done the Bávaro mega-resort thing and want something quieter.
- Wellness travelers drawn to yoga, meditation, hydrotherapy, and the Zenda Wellness Cafe vibe. Although wait for it to open to verify how much of these activities will actually make it past opening.
- Pickleball and padel players
- Pet owners willing to fly with a small dog
This resort is probably not the right fit for:
- Families with kids (it’s adults-only, so…)
- Travelers who want a beach-first experience above everything else (Cabeza de Toro is a quality beach, but the resort’s identity is more about the dual-waterfront concept than pure beachfront)
- Big partiers (no real nightclub on property, and the speakeasy closes at 1 a.m.)
I’ve been booking Hyatt-branded all-inclusives for years, and the consistent pattern with new Inclusive Collection openings is that the second year is when the experience really hits its stride. If you want the lowest rates and don’t mind being a soft-launch guest, the value is real. If you want a polished experience, wait until December 2026 or early 2027.
Getting There
Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana sits at Carretera Cabeza de Toro, Km 7.7, in La Altagracia province on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic. This makes it a a 22-minute private transfer from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ).
Cabeza de Toro is one of the most accessible neighborhoods in Punta Cana. The drive from the airport is straight down Boulevard Turistico del Este with minimal traffic, and the resort is closer to PUJ than the more famous Bavaro and Macao zones. If you’ve stayed in those areas before, expect a noticeably shorter transfer to your room.
Distances to nearby sister resorts in-case you are doing a split-stay:
| Sister Property | Miles | Drive Time |
|---|---|---|
| Sunscape Coco Punta Cana | 0.17 | 1 minute |
| Dreams Flora Resort & Spa | 0.56 | 4 minutes |
| Dreams Royal Beach | 9.32 | 25 minutes |
| Secrets Royal Beach | 9.32 | 25 minutes |
| Dreams Cap Cana | 16.22 | 31 minutes |
| Secrets Cap Cana | 16.28 | 32 minutes |
| Dreams Macao | 20.26 | 35 minutes |
| Breathless Punta Cana | 23.67 | 40 minutes |
| Secrets Tides | 23.86 | 41 minutes |
| Zoëtry Agua Punta Cana | 26.84 | 49 minutes |
The Setting: Cabeza de Toro and the Bávaro Lagoon
The dual-waterfront thing is kinda becoming a Hyatt Vivid staple since Hyatt Vivid Grand Island has the same setup. Most Punta Cana resorts sit on a single beach. Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana is wedged between Cabeza de Toro Beach (the Caribbean side) and the Bávaro Lagoon (a protected inland body of water).
What this means in practice (once it opens):
- Sunrise on the beach side because Cabeza de Toro faces east-northeast
- Sunset views over the lagoon which is unusual for a Caribbean resort (sunsets are typically blocked by the actual resort buildings and the views are rarely focused there)
- Two completely different vibes within one property: the beach side is active and breezy, the lagoon side is glassy and quiet
- Cabeza de Toro’s Blue Flag certification signals consistent water quality, safety standards, and environmental practices
Cabeza de Toro itself is one of Punta Cana’s lower-key beach zones. It’s calmer than the Bavaro corridor, with a wider beach in most spots and less of the all-day vendor parade you get further north. The neighborhood has the Marinarium catamaran tours, a few good independent restaurants, and a mellower feel overall.
For day-trip planning, you’re well-positioned:
- Higüey: 36 miles, 50 minutes (small historical town, Basilica of the Virgin of Altagracia)
- Saona Island: Catamaran day trip (the iconic turquoise-water island)
- Catalina Island: Boat day trip (best snorkeling reef in the area)
- Altos de Chavón: 52.8 miles, 1 hour 10 minutes (16th-century Mediterranean village replica on a clifftop)
- Santo Domingo: 128 miles, 2 hours 20 minutes (oldest city in the New World)

Vantage Club Rooms and Suites
The Vantage Club is Hyatt Vivid’s equivalent of the Preferred Club tier you’d find at a Secrets, Dreams, or Breathless resort. It includes 229 dedicated rooms and suites (159 Vantage Club Deluxe rooms + 70 Vantage Club Suites including the Presidential Suite), two private lounges, two exclusive pools, and a beachfront restaurant (Terramar) reserved for Vantage Club guests at breakfast and lunch.

Vantage Club Suite Garden View Swim Out: 12 units (first floor only)
Vantage Club Suite Pool View Swim Out: 8 units (first floor only)
Vantage Club Suite Ocean View Swim Out: 6 units (first floor only)
Vantage Club Presidential Suite Ocean View: 1 unit, 1,281 sq ft, third floor only.
A two-bedroom layout with sweeping ocean views, the king bedroom features a bathroom with shower and bathtub, double vanity, and walk-in closet. The second bedroom has two queens with its own bathroom. There’s a stylish living area with dining space, kitchenette, half bathroom, and private furnished balcony. Maximum occupancy 5 adults. This is the best-positioned room in the resort and the only one with an actual bathtub.
Connecting and Accessible Rooms
- Connecting rooms: 26 pairs available, comes from Deluxe Garden View, Deluxe Pool View, and Vantage Club Deluxe Pool View categories, plus a connecting setup adjacent to the Vantage Club Presidential Suite Ocean View (which is a single unit, so it connects to a neighboring Vantage room rather than to another Presidential). Each pair includes one king and one double-queen. Connecting can be requested at no charge based on availability at check-in, or guaranteed for an extra nightly fee.
- Accessible rooms: 3 Deluxe Garden View and 2 Vantage Club Deluxe Garden View units. Ramps in the lobby, near pools, and on the deck and beach. Elevators access second-floor restaurants.
Is Vantage Club Worth It at Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana?
This is the question I see in my Facebook groups ALLLLLL the time. And my honest answer for Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana, and basically all the other ones, is: it depends on whether you’d actually use the perks
OR
If you are the type of person to have FOMO about not having access to something, even if it’s just a lounge, and will fixate on that for the rest of the vacation and ruin the trip for yourself.
That’s me btw. I am that type of person. So I always need Vantage Club or I’ll fixate on everything I don’t get.
Here’s what Vantage Club includes:
- Personalized check-in and check-out with concierge service
- Complimentary access to the spa’s hydrotherapy circuit once per stay
- Upgraded bath amenities and a pillow menu
- A private Vantage Club lounge
- Daily continental breakfast in the lounge (7 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
- Afternoon hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and premium liquors in the lounge
- Exclusive access to Terramar restaurant for a la carte breakfast and lunch
- Two dedicated Vantage Club pools
- Exclusive Vantage Club Bar (open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.)
- Exclusive Serenity Terrace Bar (open 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.)
Vantage Club makes sense if:
- You’ll use the hydrotherapy circuit (most guests do once per stay)
- You like more pool options so you can escape the crowd or the activities when you want a more a quiet pool option
- You want to do a la carte breakfast at Terramar instead of the food hall buffet all the time
- The afternoon hors d’oeuvres and premium spirits in the lounge match how you actually relax at a resort
- You want suite-level space (rooms are larger only if you book a Suite category, not the standard Vantage Deluxe)
- You have FOMO and will hate not having full access across the property!
Vantage Club is probably not worth the premium if:
- You’d spend most of your time at the main pools or beach anyway
- You’d skip both Vantage breakfast options (the continental in the lounge AND the a la carte breakfast at Terramar)
- You don’t drink much or don’t have a liquor preference for top shelf.
In my experience with Hyatt Vivid Grand Island, the Vantage Club perks are totally worth it – especially since you are getting several unique lounge areas plus several Vantage only pools and the Terramar breakfast and lunch privilege.

- Note: Spirited Sandpiper functions as both a beach restaurant and a bar, so it appears in both the 9-venue dining count and the 7-venue bar count below. I didn’t just accidentally list it twice.
Zenda Wellness Café (Healthy, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- Healthy snacks, detox juices, smoothies
- Located between the sports area and the spa
- 20 seats
- Casual dress code

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana Bars: 7 Venues Including a Speakeasy
- Amber (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.): Beachfront sunset bar next to Terramar

- Serenity Terrace Bar (10 a.m. to 11 p.m.): Vantage Club exclusive
- Piper’s Nest (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.): Main pool bar with a swim-up side and a dry side

- Luggage Room Speakeasy (10 p.m. to 1 a.m.): Hidden vintage-style speakeasy near the lobby, 136 seats, Resort Casual dress code
The Luggage Room is the bar I’m most curious about. We’ll have a real review after our first visit.
Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana Pools: 5 Total
Five unheated pools across the property:
| Pool | Access | Hours | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main Pool 1 | All guests | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Pool deck |
| Main Pool 2 | All guests | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Pool deck |
| Main Shallow Pool 3 | All guests | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Pool deck |
| Vantage Club Pool 1 | Vantage Club only | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Vantage Club area |
| Vantage Club Pool 2 | Vantage Club only | 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. | Vantage Club area |
Three pools open to all guests, two reserved for Vantage Club. The shallow pool gives non-swimmers and casual loungers a dedicated option, which I appreciate (most resorts try to do everything in one main pool and end up with crowding).
All pools close at 7 p.m. If you’re a late-night swimmer, this property won’t fit. Punta Cana is generally a 7 p.m. pool-closing market thanks to local regulations, so this isn’t too unusual, but I wanted to point it out since Hyatt Vivid Grand Island main pool is often in-use till 10pm.
Spa and Fitness at Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana
Zenda Spa
The full spa name is Zenda Spa, featuring Pevonia products. From the RPG:
- 10 private treatment rooms
- Hydrotherapy circuit with cold plunge
- Relaxation area
- Locker rooms
- Full-service beauty salon
- Bridal suite
- Vantage Club guests get one complimentary hydrotherapy circuit access per stay; non-Vantage guests can purchase access
Pevonia is a well-regarded mid-tier spa product line, comparable to what you’d find at Secrets resorts. Treatment pricing isn’t published in the RPG and will be available at check-in.
Fitness Center
24-hour access. Real equipment list (not the typical token treadmill setup):
- Peloton bike
- Treadmill
- Elliptical
- Chest press
- Dumbbells
- Weight rack
- Strength training machines
Group Fitness Classes (11 types)
Meditation, Yoga, Stretching, CrossFit, Tabata, Boxing, Aqua spinning, Aqua yoga, Aqua aerobics, Jump fitness, and Zumba. The Aqua spinning and Aqua yoga are unusual offerings (most all-inclusives don’t run pool-based fitness). I’m curious how those will land in practice.
Pickleball and Padel
Both courts on property, with court access included in the all-inclusive. Pickleball has been the fastest-growing amenity request from clients since 2024, and most Punta Cana resorts still don’t have it. This is a real differentiator.
The Beach at Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana
Cabeza de Toro Beach is Blue Flag certified, which means it meets international standards for water quality, safety, environmental management, and services. The beach is wide, with the typical Punta Cana fine white sand, and faces east-northeast (good for sunrise, less direct afternoon sun than south-facing beaches).
The honest beach reality check for Punta Cana:
- Sargassum (seaweed) season runs roughly April through October, with the heaviest impact typically June through September. Cabeza de Toro generally fares better than the Bavaro corridor, but no Caribbean beach is immune. Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana will have a beach cleaning crew, but heavy Sargassum days are a reality.
- Wave conditions at Cabeza de Toro are usually calmer than Bavaro thanks to the geographic protection, which makes for easier swimming and better paddleboarding.
Beach amenities include the Spirited Sandpiper Bar & Grill, the Amber sunset bar, and complimentary non-motorized water sports (kayaks, paddleboards, surfing, sailing, SUP).
Activities and Entertainment at Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana
Daily Activities
Yoga, Pilates, fitness classes, meditation with Tibetan bowls, Spanish lessons, cooking classes, wine and rum tastings, sip and paint sessions, beach and pool volleyball, paddleboarding, non-motorized water sports, golf (off-property, additional cost), pickleball, padel, culturally inspired workshops, tropical dance classes, cocktail lessons, themed nights, beach bonfires.
Unique Experiences
Gastrobotany Experience: Once-weekly culinary experience in El Huerto, the resort’s eco-garden. The chef leads a session on botanical cuisine using plants and local ingredients grown on-site. Reservations through the Hyatt Inclusive Collection app or via the resort concierge.
Evening Entertainment
Golden Hour parties, fashion shows featuring local designers, movie nights, beach bonfires, Dominican Night with guarapo de caña cocktail-making, rum tastings, live music in the Bloom Lobby Bar.
Golf
Four distinct 18-hole professional golf courses are located within 35 minutes of here:
- Cocotal Golf & Country Club: 8.7 miles, 17 minutes (the closest)
- La Cana Golf Course: 13.1 miles, 26 minutes
- Punta Blanca Golf Club: 13.9 miles, 28 minutes
- Punta Espada Golf Course: 17 miles, 34 minutes (Jack Nicklaus signature)
Greens fees aren’t included. Punta Espada tends to be most of our clients favorite course in the Caribbean.
Pet Policy: Yes, Small Dogs Are Welcome
Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana is one of a small number of all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean that allows dog, and they go all out for them too! Worth a section of its own because it’s a real differentiator.
The basics:
- Size limit: Under 22 lbs (10 kg)
- Cost: $50 USD per night
- Eligible rooms: Deluxe or Vantage Club Suite categories only
- Number per room: One dog maximum
- Dogs only: No other pets
- Service dogs: Contact [email protected] for separate process
The dog-friendly room amenity package includes a welcome letter, dog bed, food and water bowls, floor mat, rope toy, plastic bone, waste bags, and a “Dog in Room” door hanger.
Required at check-in:
- Dog’s name, weight, age, color, and breed
- Vaccination certificate from a veterinarian (Bordetella and Rabies within the past 12 months)
- Evidence of current flea and tick treatment
Restrictions to know:
- Dogs are not allowed on the beach due to local regulations
- Dogs are not allowed in the Pool, Fitness Center, Spa, retail shops, or golf facilities
- Dogs cannot be left alone in the room for more than 2 hours
- Dogs cannot be left alone overnight
- Housekeeping requires the owner to be present when the dog is in the room
Before booking, check with your airline about pet travel rules and the Dominican Republic’s pet import requirements (they’re reasonable, but you need to plan ahead). U.S. travelers typically need a USDA-endorsed health certificate within 10 days of travel.
Final Thoughts on Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana
Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana is one of the most interesting all-inclusive openings on the 2026 calendar. The dual-waterfront setting is genuinely uncommon, the dining program is reservation-free with a real speakeasy, the Vantage Club tier looks well thought-out and not just some minor upgrades, and the pet policy plus pickleball plus padel just gives you SO MUCH. Add in design-forward architecture, a 22-minute airport transfer, and pricing that should run below the Secrets tier in the same destination, and this property is going to compete hard.
If you’re booking opening month, do it knowing the rates are great and the experience is a soft-launch. If you want the polished version, plan for late December 2026 or 2027.
Either way, this is the part where I’d recommend talking to someone who actually books this stuff for a living. I have direct access to Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana’s sales team, real visibility into pricing across all room categories, and the experience to flag the things you’d never think to ask about. Whether you’re planning a honeymoon, a wedding, an anniversary trip, a small group, or a pet-friendly escape, I can help you decide if Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana is the right call and lock in the right room before the inventory tightens.
Fill in the form below and I’ll be in touch.
