Much like the title says, the 1st floor of the two Oceanfront buildings at Iberostar Grand Paraiso (buildings 70 & 71) have been converted to walkout beach access rooms! These had just a standard balcony in the past, with the same railing as all the other rooms. Putting the gorgeous beach that you are literally on, just out of reach. But no more!
The new beach access gets rid of the railing entirely, and puts new doors with sensors you can lock & unlock from your wristband! Giving a totally new meaning to just how oceanfront those rooms really are!
Iberostar began the conversion with building 70 in late 2023 and had both buildings finished by the end of 2024.
That said, the beach in front of building 70 did clear up significantly. It was very swimmable as of our visit back in 2023. And was the same way during my latest stay in June/July 2026. Building 71 is still pretty rocky by the beach. Iberostar also built a new oceanfront massage palapa off to the side of building 71. It directly competes with the un-official massage tent right in front of it. So if you’re looking to stick with Iberostar staff, and charge your massage to your room, this palapa will generally have a much cheaper price than inside the spa.
How To Book A Walkout Room
The walkout setup is specific to the ground floor of buildings 70 and 71. Upper floors in the same buildings get the better panoramic views but keep their railings, so book the oceanfront beach access category to lock in a ground-floor room. That floor-level detail is the part big booking sites regularly get wrong, and it is the first thing I confirm on every JOIA Paraíso booking I make. Tell me you want your feet in the sand before breakfast and I’ll make sure the room matches.
JOIA Paraíso shares the Paraiso complex with four sister resorts, and the differences between them trip up plenty of first-timers. The full breakdown of who should stay where is in our guide: The Iberostar Paraiso Resorts Explained: Everything You Need To Know.
